Many adults across the globe are affected by a condition known as blepharoptosis, or drooping upper eyelids. In the past, the only options for correcting this concern were either over-the-counter cosmetics or invasive plastic surgery. Today marks a new era for aesthetics, however. With the introduction of FDA-approved Upneeq, patients can enjoy a brighter, more youthful upper eye appearance. Upneeq in San Diego is delivered as noninvasive prescription drops that lift the upper lids. Dr. Ataii couldn’t be happier about offering this innovative solution to an age-old problem.
What causes sagging eyelids?
Sometimes drooping eyelids are congenital, and sometimes they occur over time as a result of the aging process. Medical issues, genetics, and surgeries may also contribute to the appearance of sagging lids. Younger patients may acquire eyelid ptosis as a result of staring at screens every day. The levator eyelid muscle may atrophy and weaken, and eventually the upper lids cannot return to their normal position.
