The treatment is performed using hyaluronidase, which is a soluble protein enzyme capable of breaking down the hyaluronic acid found in these dermal fillers. When the hyaluronidase solution is injected into the skin, it works by breaking down the bonds that hold the hyaluronic acid molecules together. This encourages the body to reabsorb those molecules much sooner than they normally would, which effectively removes the dermal fillers.

Where can Dissolving Filler be Done?

Dermal fillers are most commonly dissolved in the lips. However, the treatment can also be used in the cheeks, under the eyes, around the forehead, and in other areas of the face.

What Should I Expect During the Procedure?

The dissolving filler treatment is a relatively quick and simple procedure that’s typically performed on an outpatient basis. Before the treatment, your injector professional may apply a topical anesthetic to the area where your fillers are located. Next, they will use a very fine needle to inject the hyaluronidase solution into your skin. They may gently massage the treatment area to ensure that the solution is distributed evenly. In total, the treatment should only take around 15 to 30 minutes to complete. After your provider verifies that your body hasn’t had a strong reaction to the treatment, you should be able to return home immediately.

How Long is the Recovery Time?

Typically, there is no recovery downtime required after dissolving filler treatment. You should have no problem resuming your normal routine immediately after the procedure.

Am I a Candidate for Dissolving Filler?

Adults who are unsatisfied with the results of their dermal fillers or need to have their dermal fillers removed for other reasons could be candidates for dissolving filler. To be an ideal candidate for the treatment, you should meet the following requirements:
